Join us for this celebration of Fran's life! Frances Ellen Krupa (Bloom) passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. She was born on May 16, 1951, in Illinois. Her husband Gary Krupa passed away on October 16, 2014. Her only living relative, her older brother, Louis Bloom, lives in Maryland. She was in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1981.

She attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins in Anthropology & Art Education. She received a B.A. in Fine Arts, as well as a Teaching Certificate in Art Education (K-12). Previously, she had studied painting and Art History for a few years at the California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland, CA.

She was a ceramic artist from 1987 to 2006. She created pottery, toured the art market circuit, taught art classes at the Bemis Art School, and managed her own business.

In 2006, Fran started volunteering in April for the Cheyenne Mountain Library. She then started substituting from June - August, and then officially joined the Pikes Peak Library District as a clerk in September. She worked for 7 years at the Cheyenne Branch before moving to circulation at the Penrose Library in 2013.

When Gary and Fran met, they were quite serious about fitness — lifting weights and mountain biking.

She enjoyed spending time in nature. Her favorite pastime was rockhounding with friends and Gary. Her favorite minerals to find were Smoky Quartz and Amazonite. She also created a beautiful little rock garden outside of her house, which she called Gary’s Garden.

If you would like to donate to a charity in honor of Fran, please consider her favorite: Pikes Peak Hospice. She also loved KCME radio!
