Friends of the PPLD is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation independent from the Pikes Peak Library District, and as such they have their own qualification requirements and screening process for volunteers. It is easy for patrons to get confused about this separation. As far as volunteering is concerned, it may help to think of it this way: Friends volunteers perform tasks related to the organization’s support of the Library; PPLD volunteers perform tasks related to operating the Library itself.

Supporting the Friends through membership only, without volunteering, is also an option.

Please fill out a volunteer application and deliver via one of the following methods:

  • Drop it off in the Honor Box at any Friends District Bookstore (East, Library 21c or Penrose Libraries)
  • Email it to: friends@ppld.org
  • Mail it to: Friends of PPLD, 5550 N. Union Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80918

The Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District welcomes new volunteers to help with our activities:

  • Participate in special Friends of PPLD Events
  • Advocate for state and local library funding
  • Serve on the Friends board or committees to help plan Friends activities
  • Volunteer at one of the Library Friends locations
  • Participate in the Friends of PPLD Book Sales
  • Accept book donations
  • Sort donated books
  • Staff Bookstores at East Library, Library 21c, and Penrose Library
  • Encourage membership in Friends of PPLD
  • Assist with online book sales

No particular skills are required other than a love of books and a willingness to assist in a worthy cause.
